Return to Forever (special guest: Carlos Santana) - Live at La Bastille, Houston, TX, U.S.A., September 28th, 1974 [REMASTER][FLAC]

Audience Recording

Original notes:

Somebody requested this rarity on the Evergreen thread & I thought I would spread it around. I remember it being poor sounding but it's not that bad, afterall-IMO. There is just some pretty noticable tape hiss & oversaturation to contend with. The oversaturation is bothersome but only when the dynamics are really high. Yup- this is probably for big fans of the group & collectors. Great Show. Enjoy, mr_mags

Remastering notes:

This was previously posted by mr. mags on March 23, 2008 at dime torrent #189345. as of this posting that torrent had dropped off the tracker. There were a few glitches in it, which I have removed by monoizing very short segments (less than .002 sec. each) 1 glitch at a time, (only enough to notice no more glitches, no audible disruption of the sound at all), and balanced out a few level erraticies and imbalances. Although the splice of STTPK's is a rather awkward one, I have spliced it into 1 track. I don't know how much of the final jam is missing but RTF with Carlos Santana doesn't happen very often at all and music sounds very good. Unfortunately it's still hissy but the levels were a bit high before, so the hiss is slightly less prominent now (to my ears), even though I have not used any EQ or noise reduction. I did re-edit a couple of tracks but have only removed silent gaps where the tapes were flipped and applied splices and/or fadeouts to smooth the transition out. Some of the times before may have been a little off. I did not adjust the speed at all, and don't think it needs it. If there's any glitches left in here I didn't notice them. All the ones I found aren't to be found or heard again because they're all gone, and I didn't notice any diginoise in here, (there's nothing I can do to fix that at all) just some distortion from the saturation apparently from the original recording So just in case you haven't heard enough No Mystery, this is a little bit improved version of one many of you have heard before....

thanks for this post, but what does it mean by spliced?

I believe this means the taper ran out of tape and that's why the track is spliced or cut.

Enjoy !!
