By the way - some time ago someone (called AvatarPresents) added reply to my video I've linked above:

"Well ~ here's the GOOD news! We have the un-released masters & will transpose soon with Johns blessings. Meanwhile, do visit us at our site for some other "blessed" music . Peace ~ Apeksha"

I do hope it's not a joke.

That would be great to hear the master recording! Let's hope it's true :-) Thanks

Dear Dr Fusion, Just to say thanks for all the great Hellborg/Lane/Sipe stuff you've been giving us all, here's some info on this recording that I picked up elesewhere on the Web (and sorry, that post was lossy too, so can't help with an upgrade):

"John and Eve McLaughlin
Unreleased LP 1974 [no label, 1CD]

As part of our occasional "Lost Albums" series, here are four tracks (Tracks 1-4) by
John and Eve McLaughlin from the unreleased 1975 double LP.

According to the notes that accompanied this CD, only a single LP was released - Visions
Of The Emerald Beyond by the Mahavishnu Orchestra (1975). The second LP was announced in
UK music magazines to be released separately in April 1975 (one side Shakti and one side
John and Eve). The release date was pushed back and then later the project was cancelled
by CBS Records.

Track 5 is Share The Joy. The track was recorded with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra,
conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, with vocals by Eve. While many a school choir member
(especially those in school in the '70s) might recall, Share The Joy is a track from the
Lost Horizon musical (music by Burt Bacharach, lyrics by Hal David) and Eve's rendition
at the beginning is very close to the original. The second half of the track has the song
in a very contemplative mood and, according to reports, the second guitarist could have
been Carlos Santana. The track was recorded for an unreleased Sri Chinmoy film (possible
titles of the movie included Awakening, Rainbow and Jharna Khala).

It must be noted that these five songs were sourced from a French collector who used to
tamper with the sound so they come across a little muddy, especially the vocals. But they
will not mar one's listening pleasure, especially given the fact that these tracks are not
widely available.

Tracks 6 to 10 were recorded at the WKCR New York radio station on August 27, 1970. Hosted
by deejay Dave, the session was engineered by Jim Carrol and the sound here is excellent -
just listen to the bells on Track 7, Peace (a very early version of the 1974 studio recording).

Those who thought the Mahavishnu Orchestra were into frantic fusion jazz might want to do a
re-think. This CD certainly came from the leftfield and is one that's ideal for meditation.

Thanks to daveq9876 for contributing the tracks.

(these are high quality, stereo MP3s - sample rate of 192 kibit/s). As far as we can ascertain,
these tracks have never been officially released.

01 - Peace
02 - In The Depths of my Heart a Bluebird Sings
03 - Oh My Soul My Friend
04 - Untitled [possibly John McLaughlin playing Indian vina]
05 - Share The Joy
06 - Oh My Soul My Friend
07 - Peace
08 - Two and One
09 - Earth Bound Hearts
10 - Devotion

Lineup:

Mahavishnu John McLaughlin - guitar, vocals
Mahalakshmi Eve McLaughlin - vocals, Autoharp, 12 string guitar track #07, bells"

Sorry if you knew all this already, cheers Dave Sez.

Hello, thanks so much for this post. I wonder if it is possible to get hold of this on CD? You mentioned a CD source (obviously a bootleg), but I couldn't figure out where to get it? Any ideas anyone? Or hi-res / wav download. The mp3's quality is just too low here.

All the best,
Liz

Hi Liz,

I'm sorry but I haven't seen a better source yet. Whenever I get my hands on a better quality of this great recording I will post it here for sure!

Regards,

Fred
