Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Hariprasad Chaurasia, John McLaughlin - Gujarat Earthquake Concert - London Royal Festival Hall, UK, 18th February 2001 [FM]

This is beautiful music! If you like Eastern music or any kind of World Music, then this is a must-have! This music will lift you up and take your mind to places of high consiousness. This is real food for the soul. Highly inspirational, Highly recommended! Enjoy!

Two tracks from the live broadcast of an evening charity concert, held to raise funds for relief after an earthquake in the Indian province of Gujarat on Jan 26th 2001. Presented under the patronage of HRH the Prince of Wales, all proceeds were donated to the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) India Earthquake Appeal, the Prime Minister of India's National Relief Fund and Sewa International.
The performances herein are by Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan (with his sons Amaan & Ayaan Ali Bangash) and by Bansuri flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia accompanied by guitarist John McLaughlin and Rupak Kulkarni.

The Michael Nyman Band opened the concert but are not included here as their music, good as it was, seemed so out of character with the rest of the evening. The concert closer was Gujerati folk singer Praful Dave with his musicians. Praful Dave's segment is not included either as too much of it was missed, due to not noticing that space on the minidisc had run out. I had got a bit lost in the music by then.
