"...I got a phone call from Claude asking if I could be jamming that evening with Billy Cobham... The opening act...couldn’t make their flight from Canada, and Claude needed a ‘replacement’. I hadn’t seen Billy for 25 years and immediately liked the idea. Claude called Billy, who lives in Bern and he also was happy to play. I didn’t have my guitar, and there was no rehearsal, it was a very spontaneous jam and we had lots of fun!"

Miles Davis - Fillmore West Auditorium, San Francisco, CA, April 12, 1970 [SBD][FLAC]

The Miles Davis Band played four shows on four consecutive nights in the Fillmore West, on April 9-12, 1970. Miles was on the same bill with 'The Grateful Dead', 'Stone the Crows' and 'Clouds'. The April 10 show was issued by Columbia in complete form on 'Black Beauty: Miles Davis Live At The Fillmore West'.

Technical Note:

During the transfer from DAT to hard drive the source DAT snapped. The portion remaining after the break was then copied to hard drive and 1:58 from the Miles Trees source was spliced in to complete the recording. Channels were swapped and pitch adjusted on the Miles Trees portion to minimize differences in acoustic character. ~Milesian
