Santana - Live at Polo Fields, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, November 3rd, 1991 [FM][FLAC]
Good for a FM recording recorded onto HiFi track. There is a short spot or two during Oye Como Va with a bit of radio interference but the sound for almost all of this is excellent. This was the Bill Graham memorial event in San Francisco where several hundred thousand people gathered spontaneously to celebrate Laughter, Love and Music, as it was billed. This is an emotionally charged performance by Santana. Searing solo on Somewhere In Heaven and guests Los Lobos bring some cheer on Oye Como Va and a killer version of Bertha. Enjoy!!

Ohm (Feat. Chris Poland) - Live at Cubby Bear, Chicago, Illinois USA, March 30, 2004 [FLAC]
Ohm are a fusion power trio from Los Angeles, led by former Megadeth lead guitarist and co-founder Chris Poland. This was the night they opened for the Frank Gambale Trio. They are regulars at the world famous Baked Potato in North Hollywood, CA. One of the most original fusion bands you will ever hear, they remind me a little of "X-Communication"-era Brand X, and Hellborg/Lane colloborations. Chris is obviously inspired by Holdsworth, with a style that's all his own. Robertino is a bass monster similar to the great Percy Jones, while Kofi Baker (Ginger's son) steals the show, with his unbelievable solo on "Jam At Tony's". This was an awesome start to a killer evening...Enjoy!!!

Greg Koch & Malford Milligan - Live at Waterfront Blues Festival, Portland, OR, July 3, 2009 [FM][FLAC]
Start with the deep-rooted soulfulness of Austin, Texas R&B vocalist Malford Milligan, add an equally large portion of international guitar radical Greg Koch and let the flavors simmer and mingle. The resulting concoction is a mix of blues, soulful R&B, and American roots music: the band “Nation Sack.” (In the Robert Johnson song “Come On Into My Kitchen,” “nation sack” is a reference to a hoodoo pouch used by women to cast a spell over lovers as well as foes). Deeply informed by blues, blues-rock, jazz, funk, country and even classical idioms, Nation Sack stretches the boundaries of traditional blues orthodoxy. Front men Greg Koch (guitar) and Malford Milligan (vocals) are joined by veterans Tom Good (bass) and Del Bennett (drums). The resulting is an organic gumbo that brings a new, refreshing voice to an idiom inundated with sameness. Malford Milligan is a world class blues/soul singer, based out of Austin, Texas. With his nationally acclaimed band "Storyville," Malford Milligan recorded three CDs, two for Atlantic Records, and one with November Records. He performed on "Austin City Limits" twice with "Storyville," and once with Eric Johnson. Malford Milligan has also appeared on the Conan O'Brian show; toured with B.B. King, James Cotton, Edgar Winter, Double Trouble, and Kenny Wayne Shepard; and has recorded on more than 30 albums with such artists as, Hal Ketchum, Marcia Ball, Doyle Bramhall, Alejandro Escovedo, Sue Foley, Stephen Bruton, Chris Smither, Eric Johnson, Double Trouble, The Boneshakers, and Toni Price. "Male Vocalist of the Decade" - Austin Chronicle "(He) may be the next great soul singer...his tenor resonance and barking delivery invite comparisons with Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, and when he's onstage you can't take your eyes off him!!!” - Texas Monthly Magazine.
Greg Koch has been called a "twisted guitar genius" and "eclectic virtuoso" by guitar pundits. The towering Koch has moved beyond local hero status in the upper Midwest by becoming an internationally renowned guitarist, session ace, top-selling guitar instructional book and DVD star, magazine columnist, radio personality, comedian and in-demand world class guitar clinician for Fender Musical Instruments and Hal Leonard Publishing Co. His work with music publishing giant Hal Leonard has resulted in an extraordinarily successful catalog of guitar instructional materials. Koch has five internationally released and acclaimed CDs two with Steve Vai's Favored Nations label. “… pound for pound the best guitar player in the world today. His, tone, feel and style are unrivaled in today’s guitar playing community. He is scary good.” - Joe Bonamassa. Enjoy !!!

Focus - Live at Burg Herzberg Festival, Breitenbach, Germany, July 19, 2008 [FLAC]
This new line-up of Focus is the strongest incarnation of the band since the heyday of the Jan Ackermann years. Joining stalwart leader Thijs van Leer is veteran Focus drummer extraordinaire Pierre van der Linden. In addition to bassist Bobby Jacobs, newcomer Niels van der Steenhoven is without a doubt one of the finest guitarist to emerge in the prog scene. His playing is so phenomenal and tasteful that it is difficult to imagine that anyone else could be better suited in this band (Jan who?).

Hiromi Uehara - Manhattan Beach Studios, NY, Febuary 9, 2008 [FM][FLAC]
Pianist and composer Hiromi Uehara was born in Shizuoka, Japan, in 1979. She began studying classical piano at age 5 at the Yamaha School of Music. Her teacher was a jazz fan, and she shared her love of the music with Hiromi, encouraging improvisation even on the classical pieces of Mozart, Hayden, and exercises from the Hannon Book.Hiromi achieved a high level of playing at an early age, and was performing publicly before reaching her teenage years. At 14, she got the opportunity to take her talents abroad, traveling to Czechoslovakia for a performance with the Czech Philharmonic. In addition to her continued classical studies and performances, Hiromi became increasingly interested in jazz. She even had the opportunity to sit in with Chick Corea during one of his concerts in Tokyo. After high school, Hiromi worked performing jingles for television commercials. The work piqued her interest in orchestration and arranging, and she felt the need for more study. The Berklee College of Music in Boston provided the perfect setting for her budding interest in arranging, as well as her lifelong love of jazz. She arrived in 1999 and immediately became immersed in the jazz community there, performing in clubs around Boston and meeting artists such as Ahmad Jamal, who immediately took an interest in the young player.
Before she graduated, Hiromi signed with the Telarc record label, which released her first CD, Another Mind, in 2003. Co-produced by Ahmad Jamal, the record featured Hiromi's multi-faceted compositions, as well as her dazzling pianistic abilities. On each of her successive releases — Brain (2004), Spiral (2005), and Time Control (2007) — Hiromi's talents as pianist and composer have continued to evolve, impressing fans and critics around the world.

Brand X - Live at The Cellar Door, Washington, D.C., U.S.A., October 18, 1977 [FLAC]
"The Cellar Door" was a very small, but great room that held about 200 people packed in like sardines. Years later DC's Fire Marshal's forced the club to reduce their capacity to about 125 people. The club tried to continue, but financially couldn't do it. I believe today it houses the office of Cellar Door Productions, which is or was a major booking agency, if they are still around.
Brand X were a great Jazz Fusion group started up as a side rpoject with Phil Collins from Genesis, back when they were still a Prog act. Phil generally only recorded with them, and all the shows I saw, he was not present. I think this is by far the best recording I got of them.

Jan Hammer & Tony Williams Group - A Night at the Berklee, Boston, Mass., July 1, 1991 (Second edition)[FLAC]
For the second time I present a night's entertainment at the Berklee Performance Center with 2 bands, this time a fine jazz fusion bill. I think the JHTW set sounded a little better than opener Steve Morse Band (the headline act usually does regardless who plays better) but both sound very good. Tony Williams is one of the greatest jazz drummers around and sounds it in this set. This was my first time seeing Tony live and I enjoyed it very much. Steve Morse had been touring the US quite extensively by this time, but it's one of just a few shows with this rare collaberation of former Miles Davis and Mahavishnu alumni. If you like your jazz rare, good quality recording and (some) good high energy fusion jazz, this one is for you !!!

Mahavishnu Orchestra - Live at Wollman Ice Skating Rink, Central Park, New York, August 17, 1973 [2CD][FLAC][REMASTER]
Master Audience Recording by Mr.JazzFusion/Hip-Hop
A Note from the Taper:
This was recorded in Central Park in New York in what is called Wollman Ice Skating Rink which back in the 1970's was used for outdoor concerts. These concerts where a venue for me to see some of the great bands of all time like Miles Davis, Carlos Santana, King Crimson, Focus, Mountain, Blue Oyster Cult, The James Gang and of course The Mahavishnu Orchestra.
On the day before the Mahavishnu concert I had found out that they would be recording this event for their new album Between Nothingness & Eternity. The MO was there for the two nights on Aug 17th and 18th. The day before the concert it was announced on a radio station that they would be recording there new album there those two nights which was part of the Schaefer Music Festival. I called one of my friends who was there with us and he also says they were NOT there on Aug 5th because he would have been there since he worked about five blocks form Central Park and always had the heads up on these events and would have dragged me there. This guy remembers dates for gigs that I can't even remember that I was at but he was with me at about 90% of the shows that I have ever attended. I decided to take by Panasonic cassette boom box to the event to listen to some music while we were in Central Park during the day and while we were on line waiting to get in. I did not tell anybody I was going to tape until when we got to the gate. I said to my best friend " I brought an extra tape and I'm going to tape it". He looked at me like I had lost my mind. We decided to split form the rest of our group and we sat in the last row of the venue. When I say the last row I mean, if you imagine a football field and the bad is at the goal line I would say that we were past the 50 yard line. The reason for this was I felt that since the last row was above the crowd and the stage that we would get a better sound with less people talking. The only voice you hear are me and my friend who is a professional musician who plays the bass, he played under the name of Reverend Bruce. After the show was over we went back to my house to listen to what we had, we dared not try to listen to it while we left because we might not have made it out of there without picking up a couple of new friends if you know what I mean. When we listened to the tape we knew we had a gem on our hands, this tape stayed in my possession for over 35 years.
After discovering the Dr. Fusion website, we knew it was time to share this classic with others who love John McLaughlin and all the music that he has provided. I have to give a big shout out to the Reverend Bruce, since it was difficult for both of us to keep our mouths quiet for this show it was definitely worth it.

Devadip Carlos Santana & Mahavishnu John McLaughlin - Live at Seattle Center Arena, WA, September 7th, 1973 [MASTER][2CD][FLAC][UPGRADE]
JEMS master recording
This recording captures the short lived colaboration between John McLaughlin and Carlos Santana touring in support of their album Love Devotion Surrender. The common thread through this whole collaboration was spiritual leader Sri Chimnoy who both were at the time disciples of his teachings. His teachings are the glue that bind together such diverse musical elements as John Coltrane(A Love Surpreme, Naima) and the traditional Christian hymn Let Us Go Into The House Of The Lord into one cohesive musical statement of Love Devotion and Surrender. Enjoy !!!
