Le London All Star (Feat. Jimmy Page & John McLaughlin) - British Percussion [1965][Mp3][VBR][ULTRA RARE!!!]

Out-of-print

Info:

It’s always nice to find a rare record but it’s even better to find one that does not exist! For Mr.Page himself once stated, ”No such record was made”,numerous other collectors and “Pageologists” (Cool word that I think I’ll copywrite it) also declaired this record as “Myth”. Ah but dear reader,it DOES exist, not only is this the genuine article but it contains a Page solo so breathtaking and outstanding that this record contains one of his most important session appearences EVER!

So let us revisit the words of another session legend Bobby Graham : “On the cold and frosty morning of the 23rdWith Graham in the producers chair the group of musicians recorded 12 tracks in a single session, now that’s not easy to do but then look at the class of performer including future Jazz legend John McLaughlin (Already known for his work with Graham Bond and Rolling Stones),Andy White (Pre Ringo Beatles,Billy Fury),with Arthur Greenslade we could be here all day,but we should mention Billy Fury,Them and Val Doonican as Page also played on the recordings he made. The Ray davis is not the Kink but a session trumpet player who worked with just about everybody in the 1960’s. Graham and Page wrote 3 songs,’Stop The Drums’,’Drum Stomp’ and ‘Lord Byron Blues’.It is this last track that Page plays a blues solo so perfect that I cannot understand why he and Graham did not record an entire albums worth straight after this session.Graham himself said of this track,”In my opinion one of England’s greatest guitar players”,If I my add a “Hell Yeah!” here, thankyou. Many involved with this session then headed out to france, along with Jim Sullivan, and worked on numerous pop sessions for Eddy Mitchell,Johnny Halliday and some girl singers whose names I forget at the moment. of February 1965, 25 musicians assembled at Pye recording studios in London for what was to be one of the finest recording dates of the year. Flexing his not inconsiderable muscles, arranger Nicky Welsh set to work one month after Xmas 1964 to arrange the music for a powerhouse line up of the finest musicians in England”.

In fact the whole album is excellent, blending its styles of Blues/Jazz and Swing,it was given a release date of September, yet it seems that it was not released in the UK and handed over to the French Barclay records, given a french title with french sleeve notes, yet obviously some copies were pressed and did not have promo or demo printed on the label. Also why did it take 28 years for a copy to surface.Discovered so I am told by the guy behind Londons 100 Club, this copy was battered and scratched and still commanded a VERY HIGH PRICE!

I would have assumed that by now this would have surfaced on the internet or on Cd,yet I have never come across it.So here is my copy taken from vinyl – Enjoy.

SMV (Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten) - Live at Casino de Paris, Paris, France, October 27, 2008 [FLAC]

SMV is a bass supergroup formed in 2008. The group's name comes from the first initials of each of its members, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten. The collaboration gained momentum when the three first played together at a concert held by Bass Player magazine in New York City in 2006, where Miller and Wooten joined Clarke on stage to present him with the magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award. SMV's debut album, Thunder, was released on august 12, 2008, with a supporting world tour beginning the same month.

Planet X - Live at Musician's Institute, Hollywood, CA, USA, May 17, 2001 [SBD][FLAC]

Are you ready to be blown away? This is the heavy fusion stuff and I love it !!!

Planet X is an evolution of keyboardist Derek Sherinian's 1999 solo album Planet X. Sherinian has stated in several interviews that his intention when forming Planet X was to create a band that "played their instruments so fiercely, that they would strike fear in the hearts of all musicians". Sherinian has called the band's style "Metal fusion". (from wikipedia)

Liquid Tension Experiment - Live at B.B. King's Blues Club & Grill in NYC, NY, 06-23-2008 [2CD][FLAC]

Liquid Tension Experiment is an instrumental progressive rock/metal project, founded by drummer Mike Portnoy, in 1997. The band has released two albums through Magna Carta Records. A third album, featuring three members of the band (Liquid Trio Experiment) was released in 2007. Mike Portnoy invited Jordan Rudess (keyboard) and progressive rock icon Tony Levin (bass, Chapman Stick) of King Crimson and Peter Gabriel's band to join him. In his instructional video "Liquid Drum Theater", Portnoy said that his first choice for the guitar was the late Dimebag Darrell, but he was unable to join because of conflicting schedules. Two other primary choices, Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs, Kansas, Deep Purple) and Jim Matheos (Fates Warning) were also unavailable. Portnoy then turned to fellow Dream Theater member John Petrucci to fill the position (despite initially wanting to keep the project completely separate from Dream Theater). The combo was formed as a side project to Dream Theater in 1997. Some theorise that Rudess was asked to join Dream Theater largely because of the success of Liquid Tension Experiment. He had already declined a previous offer to join in 1994 and instead became a member of the Dixie Dregs, known for complex, "Southern fusion" instrumental music.

LTE released two albums, Liquid Tension Experiment (1998) & Liquid Tension Experiment 2 (1999) on Magna Carta Records.

On October 4, 2007, it was announced that LTE would headline NEARfest 2008 in June. On March 29 2008, six Liquid Tension Experiment tour dates in June 2008 were announced to celebrate the bands 10 year anniversary as well to create a "whole new musical experiences"

Be sure to get this if you're into some real Hot progressive Rock/Metal music!!

VIDEO: Allan Holdsworth -" IOU " - Live at Frankfurt Jazz Festival, Frankfurt, Germany, February, 1986 [DVD]

This concert was broadcast on German television. Allan is seen playing his Ibanez AH-10 guitar along with the Synth-Axe guitar synthesizer controller.

One of my all time favorite DVDs. Holdworth and Husband together can't be topped (OK, maybe Cobham with McLaughlin, but that's it!). I remember seeing IOU in the early 80's in NYC and remember hearing a bunch of guitar wankers complaining that Husband "over played." What a bunch of poofters ;) I always thought of him as Tony Williams on steroids.
